Independence Bike Race San Souci To Rabacca- Course Description

Image

The course starts at the San Souci Bus Stop at 150 feet above mean sea level. It descends at an average gradient of 1:6 over 1/4 mile to about 15’ above sea level. Then there is short climb through a vertical curve for approximately 400 yards then returns to an average of flat course at approximately 20 feet above mean seal level.
The next 2 miles maintains a general flat course up to the Colonarie community where the trail then descends gently before going through another vertical curve. This curve is steeper, raising rapidly to about 150 feet at an average slope of 400, passing through the Byrea Hill tunnel to a more or less flatter slope at the top of the curve; the curve then descends rapidly through to the Grand Sable Bridge (Texaco Gas Station).  From this point the trail meets its second flat section passing through Georgetown, Bay Road, and Langley Park before arriving at the Rabacca Bridge.
