Local Coaches benefit

Eardley MartinNieshas AlexanderTwo more coaches here will benefit from advanced training courtesy the St. Vincent and the Grenadines National Olympic Committee (NOC).

Eardley Martin of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Volleyball Association will attend the ICECP coaching course which would see him spend six weeks in training in the USA. Vasha Adams of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Basketball Federation will attend the longer PAISAC programme in Canada.

The NOC has been sending coaches for advanced training in tandem with the respective local associations and the Olympic Solidarity – the development arm of the International Olympic Committee – for the past several years, as part of its ongoing commitment to national sports development.

In 2011, Rawlson Morgan of Athletics and Niesha Alexander of Aquatics were sent to and successfully completed the ICECP and PAISAC programmes respectively.

At the local level the NOC will conduct the first of the new Caribbean Coaches Certification Programme (CCCP) courses here during the period 9 – 10 August. CCCP Instructors, Woodrow ‘Keylee’ Williams and Rosmund Griffith, both of whom successfully completed the CCCP Training of Training Workshop hosted here in January of this year, will coordinate the course. Williams is the NOC’s National

Coordinator for the CCCP.

The CCCP is a basic introduction to coaching that is not sport specific and is now considered the foundation for all persons interested in coaching in the different sporting disciplines.
